_Witness, Mercy, Life Together . . .

Jesus said, As you did it [showed mercy] to one of the least of these My brothers, you did it to Me. (Matthew 25:40)
“Jesus Christ is the embodied, incarnate, enfleshed mercy of God (John 1:14). Because of who He is, He acted mercifully in time, took on our flesh, and bore our sin to death on a wretched cross in the supreme act of mercy. Because Christ is who He is (Mercy Incarnate), He does what He does (mercifully saves) and He makes us [His Church] after His own image (merciful people)!” (Harrison, Christ Have Mercy, p39)
The Church shows mercy simply and chiefly because she has received mercy. Christians are merciful because they are the recipients of unbounded mercy in Christ Jesus. Hearing the witness of the prophets and apostles (Holy Scripture) we received mercy and have life together in and through and by the gifts and working of the Holy Trinity.
In mercy Saint Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church offers the following parish services:
- Witness to the community through confessional preaching and teaching
- Mercy to our littlest neighbors by a "Mother's Shop" of essential baby items and food pantry
- Life Together in Christ with sister parishes, assisting in mercy needs
- Partnership with local support agencies to address human need
- Periodic distribution of food and clothing items to the desperately needy among us
